Fast Charlie

2023 · Action · Crime · Drama

B movie. I mean that as a description, not an insult. Fast Charlie is a perfectly fine revenge-mobster flick that I watched alone on a Tuesday and forgot about by Thursday.

Pierce Brosnan is great in the role. He's got that easy charm that makes you want to follow him around for 90 minutes even when the material isn't doing him any favors. Morena Baccarin is great too. The two of them carry this thing further than it probably deserves to go.

It just sort of... existed, pleasantly, for its runtime.

James Caan is in here doing what he can, and look, you can tell he's aging. There's something a little bittersweet about watching him work through it, but he shows up and does the job.

The plot's fine. The story's fine. The acting's good. The humor lands sometimes and shrugs other times. Nothing about it grabbed me by the collar, but nothing made me want to bail either. It just sort of... existed, pleasantly, for its runtime.

This is the definition of a movie I'd tell a specific friend about and not bring up to anyone else. If you like Brosnan and you like the genre, you'll have an okay time. That's the whole pitch.
