Holy hell. I walked in solo, no real expectations, and walked out buzzing.

Miao Xie is a newcomer to me and he's the real deal. Pair him with Joe Taslim, who is always money, and you've got two leads firing on every cylinder. They were both at their absolute best here.

The Kung Fu choreography is genuinely beautiful, and I mean that.

I was locked in the whole time, leaning forward, the kind of engaged where you forget you've got a phone in your pocket. Seeing it on a big screen made it hit even harder. This is a theater movie.

What I really appreciated, beyond the fists and feet, is that the why of it all actually lands. Both leads have reasons that make sense, reasons you can feel. You're not just watching dudes punch each other for two hours; you're rooting for them.

My one gripe, and I'm keeping it spoiler-free, is BIKES. That's all I'll say. If you see it, you'll know exactly the moment I'm talking about, and you'll probably groan with me.

But one annoyance against three killer fight scenes and two great lead performances? I'll take that trade every time. This one stuck with me on the drive home, and I'd absolutely sit down for it again.
