Enola Holmes 3

Henry Cavill playing Sherlock Holmes is the one thing this movie gets absolutely right. He's one of my guys, and he plays that part wonderfully. Every time he's on screen, you remember what you showed up for.

The rest? It's just ok.

Henry deserved a better movie around him.

Millie Bobby Brown is passable as Enola. Passable. That's the word. She's not at her best here, and she does an adequate job, which is not the same as a good one. She's fine carrying the thing, she just doesn't do much more than carry it.

The story is the real problem. It felt rushed and it never once felt inviting. I never got pulled in. There's a difference between a movie moving fast and a movie hurrying you along so it can be done, and this is the second kind. I'll be honest, I briefly thought about getting up and leaving it there.

I didn't, and I made it to the end, and nothing about it stuck with me after. Sat down solo, got up, went on with my night.

So here's where I land. If you've been following Enola and you want the continuation of the character, catch it. That's a real reason and I won't talk you out of it. But I'm not watching it again, and I'm only recommending it to very specific people.
