John Wick
The trailer sells you a movie. The movie hands you something way bigger than that.
I walked in with modest expectations. I knew there'd be guns, I knew there'd be Keanu, I figured I'd get a decent night out with the guys. What I got instead was one of those theater experiences where you settle in around the twenty-minute mark and realize this thing is firing on every cylinder.

Keanu is the whole foundation here. He plays Wick like a man who has done all this before and would really rather not do it again. Stoic, quiet, locked in. He's not chewing scenery; he's just present. And somehow that makes every move he makes hit harder.
The action is the other half of the equation, and it's elite. High octane the whole way through, no dead stretches, no moments where you check your phone. It just keeps coming, and the choreography demands you pay attention.
Seeing it in a theater absolutely made it better. There's a different energy when a room full of people is leaning forward at the same time.
It's stuck with me since I walked out. I wouldn't shove this in front of just anyone, but if you know you'd be into this, you'd be into this.
