Jason Statham on a boat. That's the pitch, that's the movie, and honestly that's enough.

I'm convinced the man has a clause in his contract that says he cannot lose. Not "rarely loses." Cannot. You sit down knowing exactly how this ends, and somehow you're still having a good time watching him get there.

The fun is in the variety. Different weapons, different kills, the movie finding new ways to solve the same problem. He's kick ass again, which is the whole reason you bought the ticket, so no complaints from me on that front.

Annabelle Wallis is a welcome newcomer to the Statham universe. She fits right in.

Where it loses me a little: the bad guys are predictable and so is the result. You can see it coming from a long way off, and the movie never really tries to hide it. That's the tax you pay on this kind of picture, and it's the difference between a good time and a great one.

Saw it in a theater and the theater made it better. Big screen, big sound, big guy throwing people around. That's the environment this thing was built for.

Took the kids. Would watch it again. It stuck with me longer than I figured it would, which says something.

So here's the deal. If you're into Statham movies, this is good and you already know it. If you're not, skip it, because nothing in here is going to convert you. There's no crossover appeal being attempted and I respect that. It knows exactly what it is.
