Spider-Man: Far From Home

Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio is the hook here. A villain pretending to be a hero is exactly the kind of setup that either works or falls flat on its face, and Jake sells it. He's a great actor, and he shows up ready to play. Every time he's on screen, the movie levels up.

But the real engine of this thing is the trio. Peter, MJ, and Ned carry it. Their chemistry is what makes the whole European vacation setup breathe. Without those three clicking, this is just another CGI showcase. With them, it's a fun ride.

Way more fun than I was expecting to have.

And speaking of CGI, yeah, it's top notch. It's Disney. That's the deal you sign up for when you buy the ticket. Everything looks like a million bucks because it cost about that much per frame.

As a continuation of the MCU, it works. It slots in cleanly, keeps the vibe of the character, and doesn't feel like homework. I took the kids and we all had a blast. The theater made it better; big screen, big crowd, big popcorn, the whole deal.

Then the ending happens. I won't spoil it, but that surprise ending? It's the kind of thing that makes you immediately start counting down to whatever comes next. That's what a good sequel does. It doesn't just close the door on its own story, it kicks open the door to the next one.

Way more fun than I was expecting to have. It stuck with me on the drive home, and it stuck with me the next day. If you like the MCU at all, this one delivers. Bring the kids. Bring everybody.
