Solid Friday night Netflix watch. Not great, not bad, just fun enough to justify the runtime.
It takes its sweet time getting going. I'll admit I was checking my phone early on. But once it locks in around the middle, it actually finds a groove, and there's a fresh angle on this kind of cat-and-mouse setup that I appreciated. You can tell somebody thought about it instead of just running the usual playbook.
Solid Friday night Netflix watch.
The real reason this works at all is the two leads. Charlize Theron doing the tough-as-nails thing is squarely in her wheelhouse, and she delivers. And Taron Egerton? The guy commits to the crazy. He's clearly having a blast, and it's contagious. Watching those two go at it is the whole movie.
Where it loses me is the climax. After the middle stretch earns some real momentum, the ending and a chunk of the action just kind of fizzles. Not offensively bad, just deflating. You want the finish to match the build, and it doesn't quite get there.
Worth a watch if you're into the genre and you like these two actors. Otherwise, no rush. I had a good time once and that's plenty.
