Caught Stealing

Austin Butler had me in his corner from the jump. That's the headline here. I was pulling for the guy the whole movie, which is half the battle with this kind of story.

The acting was a real plus across the board. Whatever the cast was doing together, the chemistry worked, and Butler in particular is just a very good actor. I'm convinced at this point.

Entertaining at times. That's the honest word for it. Not all the time, but enough stretches where I was locked in and rooting for things to break Butler's way.

What kept it from clicking all the way? I can't quite put my finger on it. Something's off, or missing, or just slightly out of tune, and I left the theater knowing I felt that way without being able to name it. Annoying when that happens.

Worth a look if you're into the cast. Did it stick with me? Not really. But while it was playing, I was in.
