Shrek

Some movies invent the lane they're driving in. Shrek is one of those.

What makes it work, and still work, is that it refuses to take itself seriously. Not for a single scene. That kind of confidence is rare, and when a movie pulls it off this cleanly, you get something that holds up forever.

A genre maker, plain and simple.

The voice cast is perfect. Not "good," perfect. Every line lands because the right person is saying it. The writing is sharp, the plot moves, and the way the story unfolds keeps you locked in even when you already know where it's going. That little twist near the end? Still hits.

Watched it with the family and walked out happy. This is one of those rare ones where everybody gets something out of it. A genre maker, plain and simple.
