Street Fighter

2026 · Action · Fantasy

Some video games just don't translate to film. Street Fighter isn't one of them. Turns out all you needed was people who actually like the thing.

This is so much more fun than the previous attempts at this, and it's not close.

Turns out all you needed was people who actually like the thing.

Andrew Koji has been one of my favorite martial arts actors since Warrior, and he's exactly who you want anchoring this as Ryu. And look, I'm becoming a genuine fan of Noah Centineo's art, which is saying something. He's good as Ken. Callina Liang is great as Chun-Li.

The fights land. That's the bar for a movie like this and it clears it. The unique moves and powers were a fun surprise too, the kind of stuff that could have looked ridiculous and instead just works.

My one complaint: I wanted more of them. That's it. That's the gripe. When the biggest knock on a movie is that I wanted another twenty minutes of what it was already doing well, that's a pretty good night out.

Saw it in a theater with my kids and the theater absolutely made it better. Big room, big crowd, big hits.

I'd watch it again, and I'd recommend it to just about anybody. Go see it in a theater.
