The Last Samurai
Some movies you forget by the time you hit the parking lot. This one stuck with me for days.
The story is wonderful. Full stop. You've got Japan as the backdrop, which is basically cheating because of course it looks incredible, and then you layer the action and the emotion on top and it just pulls you in and refuses to let go.

Tom Cruise is Tom Cruise, and I mean that as the highest compliment. But Ken Watanabe and Hiroyuki Sanada are the ones who blew me away. Both of them, amazing.
Saw it with friends in the theater and the big screen absolutely made it better. I'd recommend this to anyone with a pulse. Walked in not expecting much; walked out feeling like I'd seen something I'll keep coming back to.
