Sinners

Walked in looking for a movie. Walked out having seen one of the best things I've watched in a while.

Michael B. Jordan is becoming one of my favorites, and Sinners is exhibit A for why. He pulls a dual role and absolutely lands it. Not "good for a gimmick" lands it. Lands it lands it. You forget you're watching one guy doing two jobs, which is the whole trick when you sign up for that kind of part.

And it's not just him carrying the thing. Hailee was great. Miles was great. Jack was great. Up and down the cast, everyone's pulling their weight, which is how you end up with a story that actually breathes instead of just leaning on its star.

I saw it solo in a theater and I'm glad I did. This is the kind of movie a theater makes better. Bigger, louder, more committed. Watching it on a couch with my phone half in my hand would've cheated it.

It also stuck with me. I wasn't done with it when the credits rolled, and I kept chewing on it after. That's the mark of something real, not just something competent.

I'd watch it again in a heartbeat. I'd recommend it carefully, because it's not for everybody, but if you're the right person for this one, you're going to love it.
