Pretty Lethal

Ballerinas dance fighting. Hell yeah.

That's the elevator pitch, that's the hook, and somehow the movie actually delivers on it. I went in shrugging. I came out fully entertained, which is more than I can say for half the stuff I scroll past on Prime.

The dance fight scene is the centerpiece and it absolutely rips.

The lead ballerina, Maddie Ziegler, is the engine. There's real intensity behind those baby blue eyes, the kind that tells you she's going to be a problem for somebody before the credits roll. And when the whole troupe finally lets loose, the rage and desperation are right there on their faces. You believe it. These women are cornered, they're furious, and they're going to dance their way out of it.

The dance fight scene is the centerpiece and it absolutely rips. I don't want to oversell it because half the fun is being surprised, but it's the kind of sequence where you sit up a little straighter and go, okay, somebody on this crew had a vision and they pulled it off.

The setup works too. Bus breaks down, remote inn, you know the drill, but the execution is sharp enough that the clichés don't drag. And here's a thing that almost never works: foreign actors playing the heavies, in their actual accents, and actually pulling off menace. Usually that's a coin flip and it lands on its face. Not here. They're creepy. They're sleazy. They hit the notes the movie needs them to hit.

This isn't for everyone, and I'm picky about who I'd tell to watch it. But for the right person, the pitch is the payoff. Ballerinas. Dance fighting. A lead with murder in her eyes. It stuck with me after the credits, and yeah, I'd run it back.
