Supergirl

2026 · Action · Adventure · Science Fiction

Kara finding a purpose after losing her planet is the whole engine of this thing, and it's a damn good engine. The movie knows what it's about, and it commits.

Milly is the real deal as Supergirl. She carries the emotional weight without making it feel like homework. You believe her grief, you believe her drive to help her people, and you believe she's the one who's going to do something about it. That gives the movie a reason to exist beyond the cape and the punches, and a lot of these comic book flicks can't say that.

Eve as Ruthye is the surprise of the movie.

Jason as Lobo was solid. Not perfect, needed a little sharpening around the edges, but he's clearly the right guy for the role and I'd watch him do it again. Get the rough spots polished and you've got something.

Eve as Ruthye is the surprise of the movie. She's acting above her age, full stop. She holds the screen with people who have been doing this for a long time and never looks out of place. Remember the name.

The special effects pop. The theater absolutely made it better, the kind of movie where the big screen earns its keep. I took the kids and we all walked out happy, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.

What sticks with me a day later isn't a set piece, it's the why of it all. The reason driving Kara through the story is a good one, and when you give a hero a real reason, everything else lands harder. The fights mean more. The quiet moments mean more.

I'd watch it again. I'd send anyone to it. More of this, please.
